A Sunset-Inspired Wedding at a Waterfront Baltimore Hotel

Pretty in Pink

Nicole and Elliot worked with Bare Ink Co. to create a sunset-inspired invitation suite. The base card featured a watercolor ombré design that mimicked the warm dusk color palette, while a vellum overlay included the big-day details in a combination of calligraphy and block text. Matching calligraphy on the rose-colored envelopes and sleek gold clips created a modern, cohesive look.

Tears of Joy

The bride never imagined herself as someone who would tear up when she found her wedding dress. "I'm not a crier," she says. "I didn't even cry the first time I watched The Notebook!" But when she modeled her strapless A-line gown from Pronovias while shopping with her parents, grandparents, and godmother, she surprised herself. "I did end up crying!" she says. "I really felt like a bride for the first time, and I immediately imagined seeing Elliot as I walked down the aisle on our wedding day." She added custom earrings from Kate and Mari Jewelry and a Martina Liana veil, plus a borrowed sapphire ring from her aunt's collection.

Flower Power

Nicole's large, lush bouquet from Sophie Felts Floral Design included seasonal blooms like dahlias and ranunculus alongside other local flowers the florist sourced from her own grounds. Bright sunset shades contrasted with pale purple accents.

Lilac and Rose

Though Nicole had her doubts about incorporating a pale lilac with the rose tones of her bridesmaids' Jenny Yoo gowns, she couldn't have been happier with the end result. "I loved how it turned out!" she says. "Like one of my bridesmaids said, seeing all of the colors together the day of the wedding was when everything really clicked stylistically!"

Two of a Kind

The bride's youngest cousin, Oliva, joined the wedding party as the flower girl in a white tulle dress with a sweetheart neckline that mirrored Nicole's. "Our florist made her a matching comb that used similar flowers to the one in my own—a detail both Olivia and I loved," says Nicole.

Well Suited

Elliot chose a timeless look, pairing a black Lazio tuxedo from SuitSupply with a white shirt, black patent leather shoes, mother-of-pearl studs and cuff links, and Trafalgar suspenders. Each of the groomsmen selected his own black tuxedo, with the only ask from the couple being a consistent style—slim fit with peak lapels, white shirt, and a black bow tie.

In Your Arms

As the couple met for their first look outside the venue, they couldn't hide their excitement. "It was surreal to see him dressed for our wedding," says Nicole. "That was the first moment it all felt real!"

A Family Heirloom

A large floral chuppah anchored the couple's ceremony in the Sagamore Pendry courtyard. Fluttering greenery and textural blooms covered a dark wooden frame, while a family heirloom created a canopy overhead. "It was special to us that we used Elliot's father's tallit as the canopy for the chuppah," says Nicole. "His father passed a few years ago, and having a part of him symbolically over us during the wedding was a meaningful way for us to honor his memory."

Ready to Wed

A string duo played two Elvis Presley classics for the ceremony processionals—"Always on My Mind" for the bridal party and "Can't Help Falling in Love" as Nicole's father walked her down an aisle lined with dramatic planters.

At the Altar

The couple's interfaith ceremony, officiated by Father Michael Kelley and Rabbi Kenneth Block, included both Catholic and Jewish traditions in a text the couple helped design. "We worked with our officiants to choose everything from the order in which they spoke to the readings and prayers we included, to what traditions from each faith we wanted to include," says Nicole. "We originally had both thought that the ceremony would be a blur for us, but it ended up being the part of our wedding that was most memorable and special. We loved how our officiants were able to blend our religions—Catholicism and Judaism—so seamlessly and in a way that truly felt like we were joining our lives and our families."

Red Carpet Style

After the ceremony, the newlyweds took some time alone to pose for portraits and try the passed hors d'oeuvres before joining their guests—one of Elliot's favorite parts of the day. "I loved having a moment just the two of us after we took our portraits but before the reception started to just be together as a married couple," he says. "It was a surreal moment and we were really able to take it in together."

Cheers!

Nicole and Elliot gave their favorite drink a seasonal makeover with grapefruit and rosemary, turning it into a popular signature cocktail. "Elliot and I both love margaritas, and the grapefruit and rosemary brought the flavor profile into early fall," she says. "The drink was delicious, and guests were sipping on it all night!"

Red Cards

A sunset-inspired escort display called back to the watercolor invitation suite with an ombré layout and casual, hand-lettered script. "I loved that we were able to incorporate the colors from our invitation suite into the display," says Nicole, "which was set up at the top of the red staircase. It was such a beautiful way to welcome our guests to the reception!"

An Elegant Space

Floor length, blush-colored velvet linens set off delicate black chairs in the venue's ballroom, where the couple's favorite details included wooden floors, crown molding, and other architectural elements.

Tall centerpieces included draping greenery, hanging flowers, and orange, peach, and pink blooms on slim gold stands.

In Black and White

Minimalist black vases used for lower centerpieces added a modern accent to the blush-colored linens and pale roses, and coordinated with simple black-and-white table numbers.

Orange Appeal

Gold-rimmed plates and black-and-gold flatware continued the contemporary-meets-classic aesthetic, while tangerine-colored napkins set off white menus and place cards. After a first course of pasta or salad, guests chose from entrée options that included filet mignon, Chesapeake Bay rockfish, bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin, or trofie Genovese pasta.

Their First Dance

Nicole and Elliot shared their first dance to Edith Pilaf's "La Vie en Rose," before their DJ launched into a custom playlist. "I had our DJ play songs that were special not only to Elliot and me, but to our friends and family as well," says Nicole. "It was a nice nod to the people that have been with us throughout our relationship, and those were the songs that really got everyone on the dance floor."

Dance with Dad

Nicole's father had no trouble deciding on a song for their dance: He'd known for decades it would be "(They Long to Be) Close to You" by the Carpenters. "My dad always wanted this to be the song he danced with me to at my wedding," says Nicole. "This was a lullaby he would sing to me as a baby."

Hey, Sugar

Cake by Jason Hisley provided the couple with a four-tier cake covered in smooth white fondant, which included two flavors—vanilla with raspberry buttercream and chocolate with salted caramel buttercream. Delicate sugar flowers coordinated with the color palette.

For Nicole and Elliot, cutting the cake turned into an unexpectedly sentimental moment. "It felt more personal, in a way, than during the ceremony, when all of our guests were a little more removed," says Elliot. "It was nice to have everyone together for one last moment—seeing our family and friends around us, all smiling."
