Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Shared a Video of Archie to Mark His First Birthday
Several members of the royal family also offered their best birthday wishes for the little one.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be celebrating Archie's first birthday quarantined in their Los Angeles home, but they still found a way to show off how much he has grown with the world. They released a candid new video, which shows the Duchess of Sussex reading Duck! Rabbit!, one of the baby's favorite books, to him. According to People, the couple took fans inside the intimate moment to advocate for other children across the globe, who might not have the same access to food, books, and other learning materials.
The duo worked in partnership with the @SaveWithStories initiative in the United States, along with the nonprofit Save the Children in the United Kingdom; both aim to assist children that are the most vulnerable to the novel coronavirus pandemic. Archie's birthday may have been spotlighted by these important causes, but his parents believe these efforts run deeper. Prince Harry recently mentioned that he and and his wife don't take their time with their son for granted, since others are not so lucky. "'Do I feel guilty for having so much family time?'" he asked, People previously reported. "You've got to celebrate those moments where you are just on the floor rolling around in hysterics."
As for the rest of Archie's big day? According to Entertainment Tonight, his parents aren't the only ones celebrating the milestone. Several members of the royal family, from Kate Middleton and Prince William to Queen Elizabeth, wished the one-year-old a happy birthday. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took to Instagram with a photo from Archie's christening to honor him: "Wishing Archie a very happy first birthday today!" the caption read. Prince Charles also shared a photo from the ceremony, writing via the Clarence House Instagram account, "A very Happy Birthday to Archie, who turns one today. This photo of Archie and his grandfather was taken following his christening in July 2019."
Queen Elizabeth shared a photo, as well, noting that Archie is one of her youngest great-grandchildren: "Happy Birthday to Archie Mountbatten-Windsor who is celebrating his 1st birthday today! Archie is The Queen's eighth great-grandchild."
