Now that your wedding day has come and gone, it's time for you to do one main thing—relax! Take a deep breath in and out and release yourself from the pressure of wedding planning, because it's finally over. On top of all of this, you're now a married woman (or man), and since you already celebrated this exciting vows with your new spouse, it's time to start establishing healthy habits that will not only follow you through your life together, but also help you both recover from your big day. Here are some expert-approved ways you can do just that.

Rest Up

Getting adequate rest after your big day and honeymoon is key. "Sleep is a critical area of our health, since it's when your mind and body both recover, yet it's often one area that's overlooked," says Roger E. Adams, PhD, personal trainer, doctor of nutrition, and owner of eatrightfitness. "As you settle into your new life with your new partner, be sure to create a great sleep environment and practice good sleep hygiene." He suggests turning off screens 30-45 minutes before bedtime, using lower light e-readers and trying to go to bed at the same time each night.

Hydrate

Since our body is made up of nearly 60 percent water, you can only imagine how important it is that we stay hydrated—especially in the weeks, days, and hours leading up to and after your wedding day, when dehydrating glasses of Champagne will surely be passed around. Your most immediate recovery need after your wedding night may likely be getting rid of that annoying hangover. "Hopefully, you may have thought to hydrate before bed, but if not, it's time to up your water intake stat and also to replace lost electrolytes," says Josh Axe, D.N.M., C.N.S., D.C., founder of Ancient Nutrition and DrAxe.com. "You can replenish key electrolytes by drinking coconut water and eating fresh watermelon."

Eat Nutritious and Wholesome Foods

Next to hydration, eating a high protein meal full of plenty of complex carbs is a must-do for wedding-day recovery. "Eggs are a perfect choice of protein because they contain cysteine which helps to break down toxins and release them from the body, and sweet potato hash are ideal carbs, as they help balance blood sugar levels," explains Dr. Axe. "Even if you're not hungover, it's not far fetched that you may be dehydrated and definitely in need of an energy replenishing breakfast so this first recovery tip is for all brides!"

Exercise

Whether or not you've been in high-octane workout mode in the months, weeks and days leading up to your wedding, resuming a more normal workout routine is critical after such a big event. In fact, Chris Ryan, C.S.C.S and founder of Chris Ryan Fitness, suggests trying to fit in a workout every other day, even if you go on your honeymoon immediately following your wedding.

Unplug

Whether or not you're jetting off on your honeymoon immediately post-wedding, there's no time like the present to relax, unwind and unplug. "Of course, it's exciting to see what pictures family and friends are posting, but that can all wait until—and if you're not going on a honeymoon then that's an equally good reason to give yourself a mini vacation from technology and connect with your partner instead," says Dr. Axe. "In general, if you're looking to optimize your post-wedding recovery and health going forward, not overdoing it when it comes to social media can be extremely helpful."
