Justin Bieber Had Just One Wedding-Day Request—and It's Surprisingly Relatable
Plus, the singer and his wife, Hailey Baldwin, opened up about why they had a courthouse ceremony a year before their official celebration.
While Justin Bieber left most of the wedding-planning decisions in the hands of his then-fiancée, Hailey Baldwin, he did have one non-negotiable request. In the most-recent episode of his YouTube docu-series Seasons, the pop star reveals that he didn't want big flower arrangements on the reception tables. While Billboard notes that he "just basically showed up," he did make his opinion known about floral arrangements. "I was like, 'How are we supposed to eat with these flowers in my face?'" Justin commented.
While fans of the couple were curious to learn just how involved Justin was during the event's preparation phase, the latest episode of Seasons answered an even bigger question. Why did they wait one full year after tying the knot to host an "offical" celebration? As it turns out, the couple (who became engaged in July 2018) had a very specific reason for quietly exchanging vows in a courthouse ahead of their formal nuptials.
"We wanted to move in together, and we didn't believe in doing that until we were married, so we got legally married," Hailey said. "Moving in together and living together, and getting to share space with each other and just keep learning more about each other, just took away all the pressure of the scary part of getting married."
In the same way details from the under-wraps event have been slow in coming to light, photos from Justin and Hailey's nuptials have been released sporadically. But fans were treated to a more candid peek inside the party, thanks to a recent Instagram post from the model. In a post captioned, "Got some wedding pics back today from @joetermini best memory," she shared what appeared to be snaps from a late-evening portrait session during their Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina, celebration.
