Yesterday marked a big moment for Hoda Kotb: She and her co-anchor, Jenna Bush Hager, debuted their new morning show, Hoda & Jenna & Friends, a fourth-hour addition to the Today Show. Her fiancé, Joel Shiffman, knew this was a huge deal—which is why he showed up (and made his live television debut!) to show his support, reports People.

The segment was emotional for Hoda, who was so appreciative that Joel was in the studio. When she began greeting their live audience, she saw her fiancé in the crowd—and she couldn't hold in her excitement and appreciation for the moment. "You know when there are big moments in your life? It's your wedding, it's your first job, it's the kids are running around. Sometimes you need to take one second and just literally sit in the moment," Hoda said. "You guys, thank you for coming, for traveling from all around."

She continued by thanking Joel for his endless support. "When everybody is busy in life, they're busy. Joel had a really, really, really super busy day at work and I didn't even ask him to come. I didn't bring it up, and I didn't want him to feel bad and say he can't come, so I didn't bring it up," she added. "And then, I sent him a text and said, 'If you want to come any Thursday.' And he said, 'How about this Thursday? I'm so glad you asked.'"

Joe's thoughtful gesture didn't stop there. He also brought their two-year-old daughter, Hope, as another surprise. After wrapping the fourth hour, Hope ran on the stage to give her mom a flower—which was the perfect ending to Hoda's first day.
