This Couple's Modern Fairy-Tale-Themed Wedding Unfolded on the Anniversary of Their First Kiss

Angela and Jamieon had mutual friends in high school, but they officially met at a party hosted by one of Angela's close friends. The high school sweethearts decided to tie the knot about four years into their relationship—after Jamieon got down on one knee during a meaningful proposal. On a Christmas trip to Colombia to visit Angela's family, the pair took a mini vacation for some secluded romance. On the first night at the hotel, Angela made her way down the stairs to join Jamieon for dinner when "Marry Me" by Bruno Mars began to play. "When I got to the bottom my whole family was standing around. Jamieon had rose petals scattered on the floor and he got on his knee and asked the question!" Angela says.

The couple spent about two years planning their fairy-tale-themed wedding with an all-white color scheme; the event took place at The Addison Farm. As for how they sourced their venue? They have the bride's father to thank: Angela's dad knows the owners, who invited her and her wedding planners to visit the property. "After touring the venue with Becca and Betsy and hearing what their vision for the venue was, we immediately said yes," the bride says.

They invited 300 guests to the farm in Elon, North Carolina, to watch them get hitched on October 26, 2019—which just so happened to be the anniversary of their first kiss. Following a lush outdoor ceremony on a patio decorated with plenty of creamy lush blooms, the celebrants moved inside for an evening of fun. And fun it was: Thanks to their band, a broad range of music, from today's hits and Spanish tunes to R&B, satisfied all of those on the dance floor.

The couple's invitations, created by their planning and design team at Rebecca Rose Events, featured painted gold edges and blind-debossed detailing. The envelopes were finished with custom postage stamps and watercolor artwork; guests' names were carefully hand lettered in metallic gold calligraphy.

Feeling Like a Bride

When Angela went wedding-dress shopping, she struggled to find a gown that truly made her feel like a bride. But when she tried on a Monique Lhuillier off-the-shoulder number with a sweetheart neckline and a lace illusion back, she knew it would be perfect for her big day. She paired the dress with a veil, also by Monique Lhuillier, Kendra Scott drop earrings, and Badgley Mischka sandals with crystal embellishments. She later changed into Badgley Mischka flats with a pointed toe so that she could easily dance the night away with guests.

Angela held a lush bouquet featuring garden roses, stock, lisianthus, larkspur, ranunculus, and lily of the valley, with gardenia and magnolia foliage for texture. The stems were then tied with a white satin ribbon.

Angela's 12 bridesmaids donned white dresses from Lulus in various styles, paired with nude pumps. "I wanted my girls to love their dresses and feel comfortable in them, as well," Angela says. "I picked three different style dresses and let them pick the dress they loved the most!" She gifted each bridesmaid a pair of Kendra Scott earrings to wear on the wedding day; they served as the finishing touch.

All Together Now

Angela and Jamieon have two young daughters, ages four and eighteen months, so it was only fitting that they took the roles of flower girls on the big day. They wore tulle dresses that mimicked their mom's gown. The main difference? Theirs had long lace sleeves, instead of an off-the-shoulder look.

An Emotional First Look

Ahead of the couple's first look, Jamieon was brought to a field behind the venue via a golf cart to wait for his bride. When Angela walked up behind him, he tried his best to hold back the tears. "I don't think I have ever seen him smile as big as he did when he first saw me," Angela says. "After our first look we felt a little more relaxed, still super excited, and just a tad bit nervous to walk down the aisle!"

Personal Vows

This duo exchanged personal vows during their first look instead of during the ceremony. "There were no special quotes or readings," the bride says of the service itself, noting that they centered the ceremony around "our promises" and "appreciation for each other."

The Flower-Filled Ceremony

When Angela first started working with Rebecca Rose Events, the first priority she listed was a flower-filled ceremony. The team delivered: The focal point of the space was a large arbor covered in white hydrangea, garden roses, quicksand roses, larkspur, salal, smilax vine, and magnolia foliage. "We also created an installation to line approximately 30 feet worth of the existing stone wall on either side of the arbor with flowers and greenery, as well as the aisle," the couple's planner explains.

Make You Feel My Love

Angela was accompanied by her father as she made her way down the aisle to "Can't Help Falling in Love" by Kina Grannis, performed by a string quartet. As the rest of the family processed in, the quartet played Adele's "Make You Feel My Love," and switched to Bruno Mars' "Marry Me" when the wedding party entered.

Following the service, guests moved on to the cocktail hour, during which they enjoyed signature drinks, an open bar, appetizers, and more music from the string quartet. Meanwhile, the couple escaped to the bridal suite. "We had signature cocktails and appetizers brought to us," the bride says. "This alone time was one of our favorite moments of the day!"

The reception space was filled with both round and long estate tables, topped with light gray textured linens; they played nicely with the soft fabric draped from the ceiling, which also boasted dramatic chandeliers. Below, each station was set with tall taper candles in glass hurricane vases.

The Cake

Cakes By Chloe created Angela and Jamieon's wedding cake; the team decorated the sweet treat with the couple's monogram and the same watercolor artwork seen on the invitation envelopes. The five-tiered cake was comprised of chai latte and almond cake with raspberry filling layers. As for the other desserts on offer? As a nod to the bride's Mexican heritage, the couple also served Mexican chocolate ganache gingersnap cookies—and "al pastor" quesadillas for a midnight snack.
