A Champagne-and-Blush Color Palette Set the Tone for This "Rustic Glam" Wedding in Vallejo, California

Tash, an accountant, and Doshia, a nurse, met during their time at Cal State East Bay in 2009, where they were both involved in the same student organizations. "We started chatting on Facebook Messenger about everything from books to concerts to our favorite foods," the couple says. And when Tash invited Doshia to a barbecue to support one of those groups, Doshia said yes—under one condition: "As long as the barbecue came with a kiss."

Seven years later, Tash told Doshia they were joining a group for wine tasting on a yacht cruise around New York City, but she had secretly booked a private sightseeing tour instead. At the crew's urging, the couple moved to the front of the ship where Tash had a video montage of their relationship waiting—followed by a proposal.

On August 11, 2018, the pair tied the knot at The Lightouse at Glen Cove Marina in Vallejo, California, in front of about 80 of their closest friends and family. "We wanted our wedding to feel a lot like our relationship," they say, "filled with fun and love." Thoughtful music choices throughout the ceremony and reception, custom touches—like lawn games during the cocktail hour and a late-night French fry bar—and a "rustic glam" color palette of blush, champagne, and green created a day that felt like a mix of both Tash and Doshia. "We wanted our wedding to be a true representation of both of our desires," they say. "Both of you should be represented that day. It's okay to get opinions from others but remember that the day is all about the two of you."

Sparkle and Shine

The couple printed their own invites using Minted, choosing a design with shimmering metallic accents to provide a first glimpse of "the glam, with lots of sparkle and gold," that Doshia wanted in the décor scheme.

Her sparkling wedding jewelry tied into the look, too. "I did not want a cookie-cutter ring," says Doshia. "I wanted something vintage, but with some glam." The couple began shopping together a year before the proposal so Tash could get a few ideas; she decided on a Verragio ring in rose gold. Doshia chose a diamond wedding band to complement her engagement ring; both chose matching tungsten rose gold bands.

Doshia found her fit-and-flare Allure wedding dress at the first bridal store she visited after trying on fewer than 10 options. "I stepped into it and after one look in the mirror, I just knew," she says. "The lace, the sparkle, the way the dress accentuated my curves, the silk champagne underlay, the long train with silk buttons that went from the back down to the end of the train—I was in love."

She added a little extra glitz with embellished peep toe heels from Badgley Mischka and a cathedral-length veil (which she removed before walking down the aisle).

Doshia walked down the aisle solo to "Make Me Whole" by Ariel Lemeux—one of the day's high points for Tash. "After I reached my destination under our beautiful arch, and my beautiful wife stepped out of the lighthouse on the second floor to reveal to everyone her gorgeous dress," says Tash, "I remember thinking to myself, 'Wow, this is finally happening—I'm about to marry my best friend.' As she walked down the steps and closer to me, I remember following her with my eyes full of pure admiration, joy, love, and gratitude. She looked absolutely beautiful."

Low centerpieces in shimmering gold vessels relied on the same color scheme as the ceremony flowers. "Seasonal textural elements and the cool-toned greens of eucalyptus rounded out all of our arrangements," says the couple. "Our florist suggested we add just a hint of yellow to really add a charge of energy to the flowers, and create a beautiful and joyful moment for our guests to enjoy.

After sharing their first dance to "Why I Love You" by Major, Tash and Doshia started the evening with a high-energy tune: "After our song finished playing, we went into a quick dance break to the chorus of 'That's My Best Friend' by Tokyo Vanity," says the couple.

Doshia later traded her ceremony gown for a strapless ivory jumpsuit from Express comfortable for a night of dancing. "I blinged it out with a jeweled waist belt and sparkling Kate Spade tennis shoes," she says. As the dancing continued, a French fry bar offered guests a chance to refuel with a late-night snack.
