Country Music Star Chris Lane and "Bachelor" Alum Lauren Bushnell Are Engaged!
The musician proposed while singing a song he wrote for his bride-to-be.
Chris Lane and Lauren Bushnell are getting married! According to People, The country singer proposed to the Bachelor alum on Sunday in Oregon. The outlet reported that Lane knew Bushnell wouldn't want "some elaborate crazy proposal" so he decided to keep things casual: "I decided doing it at the family cookout would be the most laid-back setting and that she'd appreciate the simplicity of me proposing to her in her parents' backyard."
Lane had his concerns that a Father's Day proposal wouldn't be "the best move," but Bushnell's dad convinced him it would only add to the special date. After gaining Bushnell's father's blessing, the singer began planning far in advance-but he admitted to People that there was one hiccup. "As I was about to propose… I stepped in fresh dog poop with my bare feet," Lane confessed. "Not at all how I planned it out in my head!"
Despite the road bump, Lane went on with the proposal by singing a song he wrote for Bushnell titled, "Big, Big Plans." He changed the lyrics to, "Right now we're back in her hometown / and I'm down on one knee." At that moment, the star admitted he's "never been that nervous" and "pretty much blacked out." But, as soon as she said yes, Lane's nerves lifted as he felt "an explosion of excitement, pure joy, and love." As for Bushnell, she told the site that it was the happiest moment of her life. "He clearly put so much time and thought into not only the song, but also making sure everyone I love most was surrounding us in that moment."
Bushnell had a part in picking out her engagement ring; she and Lane went shopping "for fun" five months ago. With an idea of what Bushnell liked, Lane decided on a 3.5 carat emerald-cut diamond. She knew she wanted "something simple" with "a solitaire and dainty band," but didn't see the ring in person until the big day. The pair haven't had much time to think about their wedding yet, but they both envision a laid-back, intimate celebration with plenty of late-night snacks.
