This Colorful, Modern California Wedding Embodied the Best Parts of Palm Springs

Hanna and Will first crossed paths at a party. After eyeing one another from across the room for quite some time, Will finally made a move and said hello. Three days later, they went on their first date—and five years after that, while they were on a Lake Tahoe ski lift, Will asked Hanna to be his wife. But it was November 10, 2018—the day the couple wed at Villa Royale Hotel in Palm Springs, California—that was "the happiest, most beautiful, and love-filled day we could have ever wanted," Hanna says.

The couple worked with event planner Amorology to create a wedding that was "fun for everyone and something to remember," the bride continues. One detail that made the event—and the entire weekend—special and memorable was the fact that, between the couple and their 150 guests, they had the entire hotel to themselves. "Being able to have the entire hotel from Friday afternoon to Sunday was amazing," says Hanna. "It gave both our families the ability to spend more time with each other and it truly felt like a weekend-long celebration. Everything took place on-site."

The couple's color scheme comprised of creams and soft pinks with pops of green and mustard as accents. The Dainty Lion Floral Co. created gorgeous arrangements using the palette as inspiration, incorporating blooms and fall-appropriate leaves. Looking back, Hanna admits that "weddings can be a lot of work." And that's why she recommends that brides "accept help where you can. But also—enjoy it."

When it came time to find a wedding dress, Hanna knew she wanted something simple. So when she first spotted her Sarah Seven gown with its fuller skirt, "I thought I was not going to like it," Hanna admits. "But as soon as I tried it on, I knew it was the dress." Hanna fell for its exposed back and its rich, elegant fabric. "I didn't want to take it off."

Hanna and Will had a first look—and it was a good thing they did, because "we were both excited and anxious to just see each other," says Hanna. But "once we saw each other, we felt a lot better, more relaxed, and just ready for the day." In fact, she adds that, "I think that was the most nerve-wracking part—everything after was just fun."
