See the Very First Photos of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Baby Boy
"We're still trying to figure that out," Meghan said when asked who the baby looks like.
The first photos of the new royal baby have finally surfaced! Just days after Meghan Markle gave birth to her and Prince Harry's first child-a son-the couple took part in a photoshoot on the grounds of Windsor Castle. Although many expected the new parents to reveal the baby's name along with the photo, Meghan and Harry have yet to share it with the world.
The pair chose a meaningful spot for their first family photos: St. George's Hall in Windsor Castle, where the couple's daytime wedding reception was held just over a year ago, on May 19, 2018. When asked what it's like to be a new mother, People reports that Meghan said, "It's magic. It's pretty amazing. I have the best two guys in the world, so I'm really happy," before adding that the couple's new son has "the sweetest temperament. He's really calm." Harry, who held the baby throughout the entire appearance, seemed to be just as excited about his new role as a father. "It's great. Parenting is amazing. It's only been two and a half days, but we're just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy," he told the press.
As for who the baby looks like, Meghan said, "We're still trying to figure that out." Harry added, "Everyone says babies change so much over two weeks. We're basically monitoring how the changing process happens over this next month, really. His looks are changing every single day, so who knows?"
While there's no word yet on when the couple will share the name, Harry did hint at the fact that they were undecided on the day of the baby's birth. "The baby's a bit overdue, so we've had a little bit of time to think about it, but that's the next bit," Harry told Sky News on Monday. The happy family kept their time before the cameras brief, but that didn't mean the excitement surrounding the baby's debut was over. The newest royal will meet his great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and great-grandfather, Prince Phillip, later today, NBC News reports, which may mean a name will be shared later this afternoon.
Shortly after stepping out as a family of three, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex posted a thank-you message-alongside several new photos-to their Instagram account. "Today The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted to share their first public moment as a family. They are so incredibly grateful for the warm wishes and support they've received from everyone around the world, since welcoming their son two days ago," the message read.
The royal couple also announced the birth via their Instagram, so there's a good chance that the baby's name will be released there first. "We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses' son weighs 7 lbs. 3oz.," read the statement.
