If you've always dreamed of tying the knot far from home, you may be considering the pros and cons of the locations you love most. Should you head to the Italian countryside or plan an oceanfront wedding on your favorite secluded island? To get the scoop about the hottest destination wedding locales, we went straight to the pros—the destination wedding planning pros, that is. With portfolios stacked to the brim with stunning destination weddings, these planners sure know a thing or two about the world's most beautiful settings. Here, the locations they're most excited about right now. From sandy beaches to rolling green hills, there's a little something for every personality type on this list.
With its rolling green pastures, snow-capped mountain ranges, and gorgeous coastlines, New Zealand makes a stunning wedding backdrop. Destination wedding planner Alison Hotchkiss of Alison Events says, "I'd love to do a wedding in New Zealand. There are so many amazing high-end hotels there now, and I love that you can have a summer wedding there when it's winter here. It's the perfect getaway!"
The Emerald Isle is at the top of the list for the wedding planners at Easton Events. "Ireland has some of the most glamorous and picturesque venues in the world with emerald pastures at every turn." says Lynn Easton. "You can host your wedding and your guests at one of the castles like as Ashford or Adare Manor or at the ultra-beguiling country house hotel, Ballyfin Demesne. Think Downton Abbey with an Irish brogue."
Hotchkiss, who recently produced a wedding at Japan's Amanemu luxury resort, says, "I think Asia is a hot spot for luxury travel right now, and for me, going back to Japan again would be a dream. I love that country, the people, the food. Tokyo is so easy to get to and a quick bullet train or flight to some amazing spots."
According to Easton, the Caribbean is back! "With sugary sands and clear turquoise waters, these lively islands evoke a fun, tropical party vibe while leaving room for intimate conversations on private beaches," she says. "The runway often says it first, and Spring 2019 fashion trends are nodding to a Caribbean experience. We recommend looking at some of the fabulous hotels in Anguilla, St. Barts, Antigua, Turks & Caicos, or the Bahamas."
Hotchkiss says, "I'm personally dying to do something in Tahiti." She's currently crushing on The Brando as a venue option and says this could be a great destination for couples based in San Francisco, as you can easily book a direct flight from SFO to Tahiti.
Morocco or Portugal
If you're looking for something your guests likely have never experienced before, look to the options for luxury hotels and resorts in Morocco or Portugal. Event planner Matthew Robbins says, "I would love to see Morocco on more lists for potential destination weddings, along with Portugal. Both countries are incredibly inspiring and offer so many amazing venues, hotels and experiences for weddings."
