Katy Perry finally opened up about exactly what brought her and her now-fiancé, Orlando Bloom, together. During the Sunday premiere of American Idol, Perry, a judge on the show, revealed that she and Bloom hit it off over In-N-Out, a popular West coast burger chain, reports People. The story is surprisingly hilarious, but also completely endearing.
"I met my boyfriend over In-N-Out. We were at the Golden Globes and we weren't together," Perry said. "So, I had my security guard grab 10 In-N-Outs and all of a sudden I see my boyfriend's hand—he wasn't even sitting at our table—he just swoops in and he grabs it and I was like, 'Hey that's my burger!'"
Perry also shared this story with Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live. She was initially very protective of the burgers, she told Kimmel, but after taking one look at Bloom said, "Wait! Who—oh, you're so hot. Fine, take it." Since getting together, In-N-Out has played a big role in the couple's longtime relationship that recently culminated in Bloom's extravagant Valentine's Day helicopter proposal.
Although Perry revealed that the engagement caught her by surprise, she and Bloom had been discussing taking this next step in their relationship for quite some time, reports People. Since the couple reconciled after taking a brief hiatus from their 3-year relationship, "Katy has felt very secure with Orlando and they both knew it was different this time." They've continued to make each other their number one priority, continued the source—they've even flown around the world "to keep their relationship strong" despite hectic work schedules.
