Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth made their first public appearance together since tying the knot in December 2018 while attending the 2019 G'Day USA gala in Culver City, California. Hemsworth, who was honored at the event with an excellence in film award, took some time on the red carpet to explain how his life has changed since marrying his longtime love.
"I'm just, like, a big grown adult now," Hemsworth told Us Weekly. "Like a real man, I guess." During another portion of the evening, Hemsworth was quick to describe the gratitude he feels his wife to Entertainment Tonight. "It's the best. It's the best," he said of married life. "I feel so lucky to be with someone like her. It's great. Very lucky."
While on stage, Hemsworth even took time during his acceptance speech to mention how his wife has impacted his life. "Thank you to my beautiful wife," he said. As the crowd cheered, he continued, "You are a sweet, sweet angel. You're great, you're great."
The couple tied the knot in a private ceremony after their shared home was devastated by the horrific California wildfires in late 2018. The experience is said to what brought the two together in marriage after years of breaking up and making up. A source told Us Weekly that "Miley and Liam decided to get married after seeing how well they worked together after the fires. They didn't want to rush, but after going through the trauma together, they became closer than ever."
