Emily Blunt's SAG Awards Acceptance Speech Brought John Krasinski to Tears
The actress, who was recognized for her role in her and Krasinski's fim, A Quiet Place, dedicated the win to her husband.
Last night, many famous duos made their red carpet appearances at the 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards. There was, however, one couple in particular who stole the show. All eyes were on Emily Blunt and John Krasinski as the actress accepted her award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her performance in A Quiet Place. Blunt's heartfelt speech about working with her husband left him (and the rest of the room, for that matter) in tears.
The actress dedicated most of her acceptance speech to Krasinski, thanking him for choosing her to be a part of the film. "I am so moved and completely lost for words and unprepared," she said. "I am going to share this completely with my husband, John Krasinski, because the entire experience of doing this with you has completely pierced my heart. You are a stunning filmmaker. I am so lucky to be with you and to have done this film with you." She then joked that Krasinski "would have been in major trouble if [he] hadn't" given her the part.
It's not often that married couples get to work together in Hollywood. And while both actors were told taking on a project together could harm their relationship, Blunt said it actually brought them closer together. "You go into this process not knowing what it's going to be like," she said. "A lot of people were like 'You're going to be divorced by the end of it,' but we were so much closer. I think the discovery of how we collaborated and could create something together was just so special."
The pride Krasinski felt for his wife was evident-when the camera panned over to him, he was obviously emotional. "He probably was as shocked as I was because I think it was very unexpected and it's an incredible category and it's certainly not something I had planned for," she told reporters in the pressroom. "I was pretty blown away and I think he was just overjoyed. He was overjoyed."
