My sweet love. Wouldn’t want to live this life with anyone but you

After a fast, whirlwind romance, Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger announced yesterday on Instagram that they are officially engaged. Pratt and Schwarzenegger debuted the diamond in their respective engagement announcement posts, both of which were touching. The bride-to-be's caption was short, but poignant: "My sweet love. Wouldn't want to live this life with anyone but you," she wrote, alongside a photo of the duo that put her oval-shaped diamond on full display.

According to Us Weekly, the stone is about 5 carats and is set in a petite platinum setting for added glitz. According to Josh Marion, vice president of the online jeweler Ritani, the site reports the color and clarity of the stone are "very high," which puts the diamond somewhere between a $350,000 to $400,000 price tag.

Purchasing the perfect ring wasn't the only smart move Pratt made while preparing to propose. Another source confirmed to Us Weekly that Pratt asked his future wife's parents Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger's permission to marry their daughter weeks before the Christmastime proposal. Shriver was reportedly involved in the planning process.

It sounds as if the world is as excited about the couple's big news as their family is. The couple, who took to Facebook yesterday to share that they would have kept the engagement quiet if it weren't for relentless paparazzi, "camped out in the alley behind our house," are receiving tons of love from friends and family. Patrick Schwarzenegger shared his support on Instagram commenting, "Love you brother" on Pratt's post while Shriver wrote, "Congratulations to two loving kind caring thoughtful Spiritual [sic] people. We are so happy for you. You are blessed as is everyone who knows you."
