Why Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin Finally Started Telling Everyone They're Married
The singer and model embraced their new relationship status months after tying the knot.
After a confusing few months, Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin are finally prepared to show everyone just how much they love being newlyweds. The pair, who tied the knot in September during a secret courthouse ceremony in New York City, were reluctant to admit they were married, at first. The reason? The service was civil, not religious, which initially dissuaded the couple from claiming their married status (their faith is a tenet of their relationship). Recently, however, the duo has changed their tune-they've officially embraced the life step. According to a People source, this switch happened because Baldwin and Bieber reportedly feel married now, even without a religious service.
Baldwin proved this shift in thinking by changing her Instagram handle to Hailey Bieber and openly wearing a denim jacket and necklace that featured her new surname. "They want to openly celebrate their marriage," the insider revealed. "This is why Hailey decided to change her name. She loves being married to Justin." The source did share that, despite the change, "they are still planning a wedding and a religious ceremony," which will likely take place in 2019.
Since their nuptials, the married couple has clearly taken major steps as husband and wife. The singer and model hosted their first Thanksgiving celebration in Canada, which included both Justin's and Hailey's parents. The holiday also acted as a housewarming party of sorts, since, according to Us Weekly, the newlyweds have reportedly relocated to Ontario, Canada, full time.
On Thanksgiving, Justin took to Instagram to share his gratitude for his wife and celebrate his new life as a married man. "First Thanksgiving as a married man, first time hosting Thanksgiving," he said. "First time both sides of the family has come together. Relationships are hard and love isn't always easy but thank you Jesus for showing me how."
