Late last month, Amy Schumer took to Instagram to share that she and her husband Chris Fischer were expecting their first child. The comedian returned to the platform yesterday to give her fans a pregnancy update by showing off her growing belly.
The photo (a funny shot, of course!) depicts the mom-to-be in a comfortable outfit—her shirt lifted up to expose the bump—during a stroll through New York City. This isn't the first time the performer has turned to comedy to share major life updates on social media. Her pregnancy announcement was even more creative: She used a modified image of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who had just disclosed the Duchess' own pregnancy, to break the news.
Schumer's announcement almost didn't go as planned, however. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live Schumer's friend Emily Ratajkowski divulged how she and the comedian nearly revealed that she was expecting ahead of schedule, reports Entertainment Tonight. The slip-up happened while the duo was in Washington D.C. for a protest, she explained. "We really didn't prepare," Emily explained, noting that her friend's pregnancy slightly complicated their plans.
"It was, like, 90 degrees in D.C. Super hot day and Amy is pregnant, which is amazing. But no one knew at that point, so we were detained for four hours sitting outside, kind of on the ground and she keeps going to the bathroom," the model continued. "And all the guys, police keep looking at her. The Capitol Police are like, 'Why does this lady need to keep going to the bathroom?' And I'm like [whispers], 'She's pregnant.'"
