This Is How Meghan Markle's Mom, Doria Ragland, Thanked the Team Who Created Her Dress for the Royal Wedding
Mothers of the bride, this gesture is one to bookmark.
Though Meghan Markle's Givenchy wedding dress was undoubtedly the fashion moment of her and Prince Harry's May nuptials, there was one other ensemble that also commanded attention. Her mother, Doria Ragland, arrived at her daughters ceremony-in one of Queen Elizabeth's cars, no less!-wearing a chic mint green dress, jacket, and matching fascinator, all of which were created by Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia of Oscar de la Renta. She became an instantaneous fashion icon for mothers of the bride-something Ragland definitely didn't take lightly, reports The Cut.
To thank Kim and Garcia for their expertise, Markle's mother expressed her gratitude long before that mint suit made its debut. After the Duchess of Sussex's assistant reached out to the designers about her mother's ensemble-though Markle had settled on a British designer for her bridal gown, she wanted an American brand represented on her big day-both Kim and Garcia flew to Los Angeles for Ragland's first fitting. The social worker and yoga instructor allegedly had snacks waiting for the team, thanking them for their journey.
"She's so sweet. Her snacks were so cute, too," Kim told the website Buro Middle East. Garcia chimed in, adding that the spread consisted of only "healthy snacks, because she's a runner." "Yeah, it wasn't like cookies," Kim concluded. "It was very thought-out."
Though Kim and Garcia would have outfitted Ragland to the nines regardless of the snacks, the sweet gesture only enhanced the experience. The fittings might have been memorable for both the Oscar de la Renta team and Ragland, but the mother of the bride's favorite royal wedding moment came later. "Doria is saying the biggest highlight of the wedding, of course after watching her daughter say 'I do' to the man she loves, was meeting the Queen," a source told Us Weekly. "It would have been extremely intimidating for anyone, but Meghan and Harry really did a marvelous job of preparing her [with] what to expect."
