Lady Gaga confirmed her engagement to talent agent Christian Carino just days ago, when she called him her fiancé during an award acceptance speech at Elle's Women in Hollywood Celebration. Now, we're taking a closer look at the pink stone she's been sporting on her left ring finger for the last few months.
Though the singer has established her soon-to-be-married relationship status, she has yet to confirm that the bauble is her actual engagement ring. Regardless, the stunning piece—comprised of an oval-shaped pink center stone with a halo of smaller white stones—is entirely unique. According to E! News, Andrew Brown, the President of WP Diamonds, estimates it to be a 6-7 carat pink sapphire (not a diamond!) with a halo of diamonds totaling 3-4 carats. "This is likely a high quality, no heat (treatment), pink sapphire," Brown said. "It looks like it may be a Padparadscha sapphire, in which case this ring would easily retail between $300,000 and $400,000."
The reason for the high price tag is because of the stone's rareness. The A Star is Born actress, however, isn't the first to wear one. Earlier this year, Jack Brooksbank proposed to Princess Eugenie with a similar orange-pink sapphire engagement ring, which he chose for a sweet reason. "It changes color from every different angle that you look at it," he explained before sharing that the less-traditional rock's beauty reminds him of his now-wife.
It's been a while since a pink engagement ring (other than the one worn by the most recently wed royal!) has been in the spotlight. But Gaga is joining the ranks of Blake Lively, who has a light pink oval-shaped diamond, and Ashlee Simpson, who wears a diamond-and-ruby Art Deco ring on her left hand.
