If you ask Ryan Gosling, he'll tell you that his mother's recent wedding, which took place in Rome, Italy, was all about the food. The region's fare was so critical to the celebration, in fact, that no one could stop talking about it during the vows, he revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

"During the service, these wonderful older Italian women just whispering to me about food," Gosling told Kimmel, of his new stepfather's Italian family. "At one point this woman said, 'There's a tortellini in the freezer!' Then later on, almost towards the vows, another woman said, 'There's a smoked mozzarella in the fridge,' and another woman went, 'It's from Naples.'"

It's no wonder-if you've attended a wedding in Italy, you likely know that the cuisine is about as noteworthy as it gets. (Gosling agreed, sharing that the aforementioned smoked mozzarella was like "an angel crying on your tongue.")

Funnily enough, we now know more about Gosling's mother's wedding than his own. The actor and his wife, actress Eva Mendes, are known for their dedication to privacy-their joint public appearances are even far and few between-and have been committed to living life out of the spotlight since their relationship's beginning. Mendes did, however, open up about balancing work, marriage, and parenthood last month, citing her husband as her support system. "I don't feel like I have it balanced at all. I kind of have been figuring it out as I'm going along and it's just important to have a support system," she told E! News. "I have my family, I have Ryan's family and that's just like, invaluable to have family around supporting you."
