Gracy Accad Fall 2019 Wedding Dress Collection
Gracy Accad may be relatively new to the bridal scene—she debuted her first wedding dress collection in 2017—but she's already left an indelible mark. She's known for her ability to transform the typical one-and-done wedding dress experience into something much more enduring. Though she always debuts traditionally-shaped bridal gowns, each new collection is always marked by pieces that are designed to be worn again (think overcoats and mini dresses!). It's what sets Accad apart from the pack—and makes her appealing to the modern bride.
The designer, however, drew inspiration from the women of antiquity when putting together her newest wedding dress collection. "This bridal collection draws inspiration from the Greek muses—the nine goddesses who embodied the arts and endowed inspiration," the designer explained ahead of the series' reveal. "They are the personification of literature, music, visual arts, and science. Through this collection I sought to represent their influence, whether through sheer feats of craftsmanship, or dramatic re-embroidered laces." So much of this translation came down to fabric: "Frothy gowns of Italian tulle move like the romantic whisper of a poem, while silk taffeta coats billow as if aerated by a soprano's bravura," she said.
Accad might have been moved by the Great Muses of mythology, but she was also ignited by the real, tangible women in her life. "I always picture my gowns on a young woman like myself, my sisters, my girlfriends—my muses," she continued. It's easy, then, to envision yourself in one her creations.
