If you can take a little time to let them know just how much their help has meant to you, it can make all the difference for their both their psyche and their business. Here are seven thoughtful ways to tell your wedding vendors just how much you appreciate all they've done for you.
Take a moment during your wedding to say thanks.
You may not have a chance to thank each of your vendors individually on your wedding day, but making an honest effort to reach out is always appreciated. "The most meaningful thing to me is when I reveal the reception space to the client and get an honest reaction of thankfulness," says wedding planner and designer Jessica Sloane. Some couples opt to mention their vendors in a speech during the wedding, but a personalized and genuine moment of gratitude goes a long way, too.
Remember that the best gift you can give is a referral.
If you have any friends who recently got engaged, a good referral goes a long way and typically makes it back to your vendors' ears. "I find the best leads for new business come through referrals from past happy clients," says photographer Larissa Cleveland. "It's the ultimate form of gratitude." Not only does a referral reflect how happy clients are with the work their vendor's put in, the potential leads keep a lot of these small businesses running.
Write heartfelt thank-you notes.
For many in the wedding industry, there's nothing as rewarding as receiving a thoughtful, personal note of gratitude for all the work they've put into an event. Whether sent via text, email, or snail mail, a heartfelt note of appreciation is a great reminder for vendors of why they put in so many long hours to create memories you'll treasure long after the cake's cut.
Send gifts and gratuities.
From bottles of wine to new iPads and cash tips, wedding planners, florists, caterers, and photographers get all kinds of gifts from their clients. Give credit on social media.
Cleveland says a social media credit often serves as a style of personal referral that can lead to more bookings. It's also really helpful to other couples that are currently planning a wedding so they don't have to do a lot of research to figure out which vendors were on board if they spot a photo that inspires them.
Offer to be a reference.
When deciding which vendors to hire, many couples will request references from past clients. If you worked with any vendor you thought really did an excellent job, you might reach out and offer to be a reference if they ever need one.
Write an online review.
A great review stretches a long way online. Don't be afraid to go into detail about what a vendor did that you found impressive or exceptional. Not only can this lead to future bookings, it's also helpful for your vendors to grow their online rankings while they grow their business.
