Queen Elizabeth and Meghan Markle's first joint-trip to Cheshire has been on royal watchers' radars for weeks now. Earlier reports suggested that the Queen was using her time with the Duchess of Sussex to show her the ropes. While training and hard work might be part of their voyage, photos suggest that that the monarch and her new granddaughter-in-law are actually having the time of their lives.
The royals pulled into Runcorn Station and exited the train in good spirits. Meghan (who returned to her wedding dress designer, Givenchy, for her neutral, mid-length dress with a bolero and black belt) appeared to be completely at ease with the Queen (a vision in lime green!) as they walked towards the new Mersey Gateway Bridge. There, they greeted adoring bystanders and met with the project's architects and planners.
The fun didn't stop there: The royal duo was treated to a mini-play by Cheshire's local school children, which is when the Queen really appeared to break out of her typically-reserved shell. Gesturing to the little actors and laughing alongside Meghan, the monarch looked downright giddy. At one moment, the royals appeared to lean into one another and exchange a private joke.
While the royal wedding clearly demonstrated the former Suits actress' warm acceptance into Prince Harry's family, this is the first time we're seeing her and the matriarch's bond on display—literally. To mark the special occasion, Queen Elizabeth presented Meghan with a pair of pearl and diamond drop earrings, which appeared to be a smaller version of her own, reported People.
