2018 was a huge year for Beyoncé and Jay-Z—the couple released new music, embarked on their second joint tour, and, best of all, renewed their wedding vows. After People issued a press release in June, confirming that the couple did, in fact, hold a second ceremony, we learned exactly who made Beyoncé's gown for the small event. The star wore an actual wedding dress by Galia Lahav for the occasion and now, just gave fans a closer look at the special garment.
The singer posted a year in review video on Instagram, which showcased her and Jay-Z's 2018 highlights. Included in the footage was a better snapshot of Beyoncé's vow renewal dress—you can see the number's draped sleeves and figure-hugging trumpet silhouette more clearly in the third photo of the photo reel, below—which she paired with a dramatic, extra-long veil and modern sunglasses. The photograph also showed her posing with her husband, who donned a matching white suit for the service.
People revealed earlier that year that the dress, titled the "Thelma" gown, was part of Galia Lahav's "Victorian Affinity" collection. The form-fitting dress boasts an off-the-shoulder neckline, billowing sleeves, crystal embellishments, and sheer details. The dramatic style definitely suits the A-lister—in fact, she's worn Galia Lahav before. A photo posted to brand's Twitter feed shows Beyoncé in one of their veils for her Formation tour.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z first hinted at their vow renewal in a video montage they shared on their On the Run II tour. In the clip, the couple was seen dressed in white alongside their children, Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir. Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles, also Instagrammed a snapshot of the vow renewal, only bolstering the rumors.
The musical celebrities first tied the knot back in 2008. Then, Beyoncé actually wore a wedding dress designed by her mother. The strapless garment was much simpler than her latest outfit, but as People notes, it wasn't her favorite style. While Beyoncé's worn wedding dresses in the past, we're glad to see she got an official redo.
