The week before your wedding will arguably one of the busiest of your entire life. Between final wedding dress fittings and meetings with vendors, you'll also have to corral your bridal party and make at least a handful of last-minute decisions. In order to be prepared for the craziness, one of the best things you can do for yourself before this hectic week begins is to get some sleep. That's right: While everyone stresses the importance of a good night's rest before the wedding day, we're here to tell you that you need to getting enough sleep before the big week is important, too.
It's crucial for good mental health.
When you're getting enough sleep, you're actually promoting healthy brain function and emotional wellness (and trust us, you're going to need that). Skipping out on a full night's rest will only fog your brain, causing you to forget important details or make wrong decisions, thus making you an emotional mess. Try to schedule time to get rest and make it a priority well before the wedding week rolls around.
It also improves your immune system.
The last thing you want during the wedding week, or even after the wedding, is to come down with a cold. Lack of sleep can impair your immune function and make your more susceptible to illness. The only thing you're going to want tissues for at your wedding is for happy tears, not a stuffy nose.
It lowers stress.
If there's any time in your life that you need the least amount of stress in your life as possible, this is it. Adequate amounts of sleep can help reduce levels of stress and can help decrease anxiety. If you're starting to feel overwhelmed, or even a little crabby, take a short nap and see if that helps to fix your mood.
