If you fancy yourself a baker and a royal wedding fan, you can now create your own version of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding cake to enjoy while you watch their big day unfold. How? By using an ingredient list provided by none other than the experts themselves! In partnership with Violet by Claire Ptak, who's creating the event's dessert, Kensington Palace just shared exactly what's inside the confection.
In the palace's Instagram story, Ptak is shown with each item necessary to bring the wedding cake to life. As expected, a ton goes into baking the masterpiece. That includes some insane quantities and some very specific sources. According to the story, you'll need "200 Amalfi lemons," "500 organic eggs from Suffolk," "20kgs of butter," "20kgs of flour," "20kgs of sugar," and "10 [yes, 10] bottles of Sandringham Elderflower Cordial." It sounds like they're serving a boozy sweet—how fun!
Earlier this week, Ptak took to Instagram with another big-day preview. Then, she showcased the crates of citrus fruits she ordered for the dessert, writing, "And so it begins." She also shared a beautiful photo of a tier with a dreamy floral design. If that's any indication of what Harry and Markle's wedding cake will look like, we're surely in for a treat. The future bride and groom announced Ptak's involvement in March. "Prince Harry and Ms. Markle have asked Claire to create a lemon elderflower cake that will incorporate the bright [flavors] of spring. It will be covered with buttercream and decorated with fresh flowers," the statement read.
