Kensington Palace Just Released a Statement About Meghan Markle's Dad
The bride and groom are asking for "respect."
As the royal wedding approaches, there's been some confusion over whether or not Meghan Markle's father will be a part of the big day. While Kensington Palace initially stated that he'd be walking his daughter down the aisle, earlier today, TMZ revealed that he's no longer attending the nuptials. This came after reports stated that Thomas Markle posed for paparazzi photos. Now, it seems as though Kensington Palace has officially addressed the drama.
"This is a deeply personal moment for Ms. Markle in the days before her wedding. She and Prince Harry ask again for understanding and respect to be extended to Mr. Markle in this difficult situation," a palace spokesperson shared, according to People. While the statement doesn't definitively say that he won't be at the event, it doesn't say anything about him coming, either.
This morning, TMZ shared that Mr. Markle recently suffered from a heart attack. That, combined with the news that he worked with paparazzi photographers to stage press photos, have led him to reconsider attending the royal wedding. Despite all the drama, it seems as though Meghan is doing her best ot keep her spirits up. "She doesn't want to let anything ruin her day and is trying to keep focus on the weekend," a source told Us Weekly.
Whether or not the bride's father will give her away, we know that her mother, Doria Ragland, will play a special role in the celebration. As previously announced, Ragland will spend the night before the big day with her daughter at the luxurious Cliveden Estate.
