6 Summer Bridal Shower Ideas Your Bride Will Love
Embrace the warm weather with these suggestions.
Sweet, sweet summertime! It's all about warm weather, tasty food, and outdoor activities. If you're planning a summertime bridal shower, embracing the best aspects of this season is an easy way to ensure that your bride-to-be's pre-wedding party is memorable and unique. Here are six summer-centric ideas that your bride (and her guests!) will absolutely adore.
Make it an all-white party.
A summer staple in coastal spots like Miami Beach and the Hamptons, a "white party"-or an event where every aspect of the day, from the stationery to the dress code, is monochromatic-is perfect for the bride that's always on top of the latest trend. Plus, there's no color more appropriate for a bride-to-be than wedding-worthy white. Heather Lowenthal of Posh Parties recommends taking the white theme to the limit with a 3-D flower invitation, white florals, and an iced-out dessert station complete with powdered donuts, cupcakes, and cake pops. Your bride will surely feel like a hip, celebutante with this theme.
Throw a rosé-fueled luncheon.
For the wine-loving bride-to-be, spoil her with the best of the best-rosé all day. To keep your party popping, Lowenthal recommends carrying this idea over to the décor, too. Rent light pink lace tablecloths, send each guest home with a mini bottle of sparkling rosé, and set the tables with rose gold flatware. Take it one step further with a blush-colored flower wall that can be used as a photo backdrop. Imagine the pics she'll have to look back on.
Celebrate with a rooftop cocktail party.
For the cocktail-loving city bride, take it to the roof. After all, what says "summer" better than sitting on your Manhattan rooftop with a glass of bubbly on a Friday night? This type of party will embrace the warm summer breezes and spectacular views, says Deanna Nash of Deanna Nash Events. She recommends setting the scene with bistro lights, flickering candles, lounge seating, and a playlist of summer favorites.
Embrace a retro theme by planning an ice cream social.
Ice cream is the quintessential summer treat, and retro-loving brides will be crazy about the idea of spending time with her closest friends and family while enjoying handcrafted sundaes. Embrace this theme by going big with an ice cream toppings bar, mini grilled cheeses, sliders, and even a soda fountain, says Nash. You can even extend the theme a bit further by requesting that guests bring gifts to fill the bride's kitchen (including ice cream bowls and scoops). Add even more to the event with an old-school ice cream truck-crazy music and all.
Honor her sporty side with a baseball BBQ.
Take her out to the ball game. For baseball-loving couples, celebrate this summer pastime (and the couple, of course) with a couples' shower. Nash recommends sending out game-day ticket themed invitations to set the stage. Start the party with a friendly round of batting practice, and then hit the bleachers for a spread of cold drinks, summer salads, burgers, hot dogs, apple pie, and ice cream. The casual atmosphere makes for a fun afternoon.
When in doubt, you can't go wrong with Sunday brunch.
Who doesn't love Sunday brunch? Let this late weekend tradition be part of her last hurrah. "Plan a poolside brunch where guest can relax on lounge chairs and enjoy everything from frozen fruit popsicles to a champagne bar," says Lowenthal. Lawn games are also a great way to keep guests engaged. One thing to keep in mind: the weather. It might be hot or rainy, so Lowenthal recommends being prepared with fans, umbrellas, or an amazing plan B.
