You Have to See the Very First Photos of the New Royal Baby
Prince William and Duchess Kate just left the hospital with their third child, a son.
The first photos of the newest prince have officially surfaced! Just hours after giving birth, Kate Middleton and Prince William stepped out in front of St. Mary's hospital their family's new addition in tow. As the trio headed home from the hospital, the little royal made his grand debut for the world to see.
Recently released photos show Middleton looking radiant in a red dress with a Peter Pan collar (a nod to one of Princess Diana's hospital departure ensembles, People notes), with baby number three in her arms. The child was bundled up in white blankets, with a cap on his head. William posed proudly beside his wife-who looked incredible for having given birth at 11 a.m., GMT, this morning!
The reveal came just hours after Prince William was spotted escorting Prince George and Princess Charlotte into the hospital, where the two siblings were officially acquainted with their soon-to-be-named brother. While George looked shyly towards the camera, his sister was quite the crowd-pleaser, waving hello and turning back towards reporters as she entered the building. The father-of-three had just briefly left Middleton's side to pick up his other children. According to an E! News source, William had asked George's classmates (and their parents!) not to reveal the gender of the prince's sibling-he wanted to have that honor.
Two weeks after Prince Louis' debut on the hospital steps, Kensington Palace released two more photos of the tot, taken by his mother. One of the images shows Princess Charlotte planting a kiss on her new sibling-reminscent of the photo the Duchess of Cambridge took of Prince George holding Charlotte when she was just a few weeks old in May 2015. She's even wearing her big brother's sweater! Both photos (the other is a solo shot of the little prince) were taken on the princess's third birthday.
Kensington Palace announced the tot's arrival on April 23 with a celebratory statement. "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs," the Palace tweeted. "The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news."
