It's not every day that we hear details about Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender's Ibiza wedding. In fact, the couple has remained tight-lipped about the intimate ceremony, which took place in October 2017. The Lara Croft actress, however, just told Marie Claire about a special (and impromptu!) pre-wedding event that took place shortly before the star exchanged vows.
"I was [in Paris] for the Louis Vuitton show and suddenly got a text that says, 'Go out. We need you right now.' [My friends] kidnapped me for 24 hours!" she said of her bachelorette party. While she didn't go into further detail about the pre-wedding celebration or her and Fassbender's big day, she did hint at the nature of their relationship. "I'm a big romantic, and I always have been," the actress continued.
In an interview with Vogue, Vikander also opened up about how she feels about being married: "I feel I'm more happy and content than I've ever been," Vikander revealed. The couple reportedly exchanged vows at Ibiza's La Grangja farmstead resort, surrounded by a small group of family and friends. Paparazzi photographs showed the group at what appeared to be a post-wedding brunch; Vikander donned a white sundress and heart-shaped glasses for the occasion and flashed a gold wedding band, which matched Fassbender's.
She and her now-husband met in 2014, on the set of their film The Light Between Oceans—they played each other's spouses onscreen, which cultivated a real-life romance. Rumors of their relationship circulated for nearly two years before the notoriously-private twosome confirmed the speculations. They stepped out as an official item at the 2016 Golden Globes and shared a kiss at the Academy Awards, after Vikander took home the Best Supporting Actress trophy for her role in The Danish Girl.
