Ed Sheeran surprised fans by announcing his engagement out of the blue, and since then, his relationship with fiancée Cherry Seaborn has remained pretty private. That hasn't stopped many from trying to learn more about their upcoming nuptials, though, and it looks like someone just uncovered something big.
According to the Belfast Telegraph, Sheeran has submitted a planning application to build a chapel on his property in England. The proposal makes the case for building the structure by stating that it's "every person’s right to be able to have a place of retreat for contemplation and prayer, for religious observance, celebration of key life and family milestones, marriages, christenings and so forth." Are Sheeran and Seaborn thinking about tying the knot at home?
The plans reveal that the chapel would hold about 24 people, with some extra room for overflow. Further, Sheeran's expecting approval or denial in April. If the star's really thinking about making it official in this custom chapel, the news points to a few different conclusions about the big day. First, his wedding ceremony will be intimate. Second, it won't take place until the spring, at the earliest. (Once the application's approved, the space will still have to be built.)
Recently, rumors swirled that Sheeran and Seaborn had already exchanged vows, after the former was seen sporting a ring on that finger. The songwriter cleared things up, however, by explaining that he's wearing an engagement ring. "I never saw why men didn't wear engagement rings. It's the same commitment either way," he shared in an interview. "Cherry made it for me herself out of silver clay. I really like it."
