Despite the rumors that spread earlier this week, Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn haven't secretly tied the knot. After the "Perfect" singer was photographed wearing what looked like a silver wedding band during a London performance, speculation surrounding a private ceremony circulated. According to Sheeran, though, that's not the case—the band in question is actually an engagement ring that was a gift from his fiancée.

"I never saw why men didn't wear engagement rings. It's the same commitment either way." he explained to a Lorraine reporter at Tuesday's 2018 BRIT Awards. "Cherry made it for me herself out of silver clay. I really like it." A source recently told The Sun that the musician was "amused by the fuss [the ring] caused," but that he has "no intentions of taking it off." "I feel like it's good to do both things," Sheeran told Sky News, of his and Seaborn's decision to both sport engagement rings.

Sheeran revealed the news that he and his longtime girlfriend were engaged with a sweet Instagram post earlier this year. "Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well," he wrote. While the Grammy-winner has remained tight-lipped about the proposal and upcoming wedding plans, he did reveal that the date has been set. Like with their engagement, though, we likely won't learn anything about Sheeran and Seaborn's nuptials until after the day has passed. "It will be a situation like this where no one knows," he said.

The musician also cleared up another pressing rumor about a potential royal wedding performance. "They asked, 'If you were asked, would you say yes?' And I was like, 'Of course.' But journalists [are] like, everyone's like, 'He's playing it!' But no one's looked at my tour dates," he explained to the BBC. "I haven't been asked either."
