Nikki Bella and John Cena's pre-wedding celebrations are (finally!) off to a start. Nine months after Cena's proposal, the professional wrestlers threw an engagement party to toast their upcoming nuptials with family and friends.
"Such a wonderful, meaningful, emotional day yesterday with the woman of my dreams and both of our families," Cena tweeted. "I love you Nicole, you've made me realize the importance of togetherness." The Total Bellas star, touched by her beau's words, responded, "Aww my Love... It was so magical. Love you too John." While the couple didn't provide any details about their engagement party, guest Olivia Wingen told E! News that it was a love-filled celebration. "It was a beautiful day, great food, lots of football, and some amazing announcements for Total Bellas," she said.
While we don't yet have an update on when the couple's ceremony will take place—they pushed back their wedding date last year—Cena recently opened up the planning process. "Yeah, it's actually going to gear up in the next few weeks. It's kind of a special time where there is a little bit of lull and I'm really looking forward to spending some time with Nicole and work on that," he said. "Hopefully, in the next few weeks the wedding planning is really going to amp up!"
The duo became engaged in April 2017, when Cena proposed to Bella on live TV after a partner match. After taking the win, Cena took his girlfriend of six years by the hand and said, "I've been waiting so long to ask you this," he said. "Stephanie Nicole Garcia-Colace, will you marry me?" After accepting, Bella shared the happy news on Instagram, sporting her massive Tiffany & Co. engagement ring. "I never thought I would use this emoji," she wrote, alongside the engagement ring icon.
