Meghan Trainor and Daryl Sabara took their relationship to a new level this past holiday season. The couple got engaged on the singer's birthday, and while the proposal itself was a shock, not everything about it was a surprise for the bride-to-be.
"I'm the luckiest," Trainor told Entertainment Tonight yesterday, before revealing that planning the proposal was stressful for Sabara. "He hadn't slept for a long time," she shared. The Spy Kids star, who was present for the interview, chimed in, "It was worth it." He's right—Trainor considers the engagement her "dream come true and more." According to Trainor, she had no idea what was coming. "It was my birthday too, so I was like, 'This is just a birthday getaway,'" she explained. "And it was not. It was more." "I was surprised that she was surprised. It's so hard to surprise her," Sabara admitted.
While she didn't know Sabara was planning to pop the question right then, she likely had an idea it was coming. Why? Trainor actually chose her own engagement ring. "That was the secret," she revealed. "But I just wanted to make it perfect, just in case, you know?" So, the star told Sabara what she wanted, and let him handle the rest. "It's like, 'Just so you know, this one is my favorite.' And he was like, 'But let me have my moment to surprise you.' And he took his time and had his moment," she told Entertainment Tonight.
Post-proposal, the two have started putting thought into their wedding. "We've got a lot of friends and family and we're trying to think how we can fit them all in one place and it's going to take some planning," the couple shared.
