Meghan Markle has big shoes to fill as her life becomes more like Duchess Kate's, who herself was thrown into the global spotlight when she married into British royalty. The two will share a slew of similar experiences, from being obsessed over by the media and fans, to fulfilling noble duties and traditions. So, what does Kate think of Markle's engagement to Prince Harry? The original regular-turned-British-royal of the century just spoke out.
According to People, Kate and Prince William were visiting a museum when reporters caught up with them to ask about the engagement announcement. The duchess said this of her future sister-in-law's big news: "William and I are absolutely thrilled. It's such exciting news. It's a really happy time for any couple and we wish them all the best and hope they enjoy this happy moment."
We can't blame the royal couple for being excited. Not only will their successors take some attention off of them, but Markle's new status as Harry's fiancée will continue to expand their growing family. Kate and William aren't just gaining an in-law—in the interview Markle and Harry gave following their engagement announcement, they revealed that kids may be coming soon. "I think one step at a time and hopefully we'll start a family in the near future," Harry revealed, when asked about having children.
Kate and William are currently expecting their third child, who is due in the spring, around the time when Markle and Harry are set to wed. The little one—plus the pair's other children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte—may just have a cousin on the horizon.
