Jordin Sparks recently announced that she and Dana Isaiah got marred in Hawaii this past July, and that the two are expecting their first child. But what the singer didn't explain was just how spur-of-the-moment the couple's destination wedding really was.
According to People, Sparks and Isaiah hadn't even planned on getting married while vacationing with friends in Hawaii. "We hadn't had a set plan or anything. We were like, 'If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, that's okay too," the American Idol alum said.
The couple decided to go ahead and tie the knot while they were in the ocean (literally!) with their friends. Luckily, Sparks' best friend had gotten ordained before the trip just in case. "We all get in the water and we're having a good time and I just was like 'Morgan—she had gotten ordained before the trip. I was like, 'Morgan, why don't you do it right now?' And she was like 'Okay!'" The couple eloped right then and there, with their closest friends around them. "We did it and then she was like 'Kiss me!'" Isaiah said of their simple, but romantic ceremony.
While the duo didn't hire a photographer for the last-minute event, Sparks and Isaiah actually have photos to look back on. A paparazzo snapped photos of the couple and their friends in the water, unknowingly documenting the entire ceremony. Days later, the newlywed spotted the photos online. "That is basically the picture of the actual moment," Sparks, who was wearing a bathing suit and a flamingo floaty in the snaps, said. "It was so much fun and we had such a great time. I do big events all the time, so to be able to have this moment, it was really special to me in that way. Everybody’s love story is different."
