Jordin Sparks is married to model Dana Isaiah, and the newlyweds are expecting their first child. The American Idol winner told People that she and her husband eloped in July, just six months after they first met. The couple has enjoyed keeping the news a secret, but when Sparks found out she was pregnant in August, the duo knew it was only a matter of time before they had to break the news.
Sparks' husband couldn't wait to tell the world about his new wife. "He's been like, 'I want to shout it from the mountain tops!' We're really proud to be married to each other and to be celebrating this," she said. Their love story is certainly one to celebrate. After Sparks and her family met Isaiah's family at a charity event, they were set up unintentionally by their mothers in a joint-family group chat. "My mom was trying to get [Jordin] to talk me out of moving to L.A. because she's experienced the industry out here," he said. "It wasn't like, 'We want you guys to date.'"
But the duo bonded quickly over family and faith, and spoke every day for a month. After Isaiah flew out at Easter to meet Sparks in Los Angeles, she immediately knew that he was the one. "A couple days after we had actually met, I was like in my head 'That's going to be my husband! That's my husband right there,'" she said. Six months later, the couple eloped while on vacation in Hawaii with a small group of friends by their side. After they surprised their family with the happy news, the couple received the biggest shock of all—Sparks discovered she was expecting only two months after the wedding.
"It's been really crazy because everything changes," she explained. "Once we got over the initial shock of it, now again just like it is with the marriage, to be able to share that this amazing thing is happening, it's such a great thing. We did this together!" Sparks is looking forward to her next new beginning with her husband by her side. "This is the best part so far because I have [Dana] and I have this little one and I have a new family. I'm the most content I've ever been in my life," she said.
