Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet recently married after dating for 12 years and welcoming two children. While their nuptials were supposed to be a secret, the news broke anyway, and now the couple is being pressed for details. Momoa appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden last night, and the actor discussed the couple's love story.
Corden congratulated Momoa on his marriage, to which the actor responded, "Finally." According to the star, he had his eyes on his wife from an early age. "I've always wanted to meet her," he admitted. "She was the queen, always." His dream became a reality when he first met Bonet through mutual friends. "I literally turned around, I'm with my best friend, and I see her and she goes, 'I'm Lisa.' And I turn around to my friend and I'm like, [screams]."
At that moment, he had "fireworks going off inside." Momoa decided to take his chances and ask Bonet for a date that same night. "I convinced her to take me home because I was living in a hotel," he shared, "because I didn't have a car." "We sat down and she ordered a Guinness, and that was it. She ordered a Guinness and then I ordered grits. We had Guinness and grits and the rest was history."
Earlier this month, Momoa weighed in on his recent wedding. "You know what, I've been married to my wife for 12 years," he explained then, calling the official ceremony "just a gathering of our families and celebrating our love."
