Justin Verlander, pitcher for the Houston Astros, just helped his team take home a World Series win, but that wasn't his only personal accomplishment as of late. Just days later, he married model Kate Upton in a private wedding in Italy that took place this past weekend.
The couple said their vows in an outdoor ceremony on Saturday. The bride shared a newlywed snapshot on Instagram, which was taken by photographer KT Merry as the couple recessed back up the aisle. Upton can be seen wearing an A-line wedding dress with long sleeves made of sheer lace, accessorized with a long veil. Verlander sported a black tux, black bow tie, and black shoes.
It's been an incredible week for Kate Upton and MLB star Justin Verlander -- first he wins a World Series ring with the Houston Astros ... then they both get rings at their amazing Italian wedding. Based on photos shared by TMZ, the wedding party was just as fashionable, with the women (presumably the bridesmaids) wearing two types of tea-length dresses. Some donned tiered, lacy, cold-shoulder gowns, while others stepped out in simple, silky garments. They were all a mauvish color. Meanwhile, the groomsmen matched the groom, but wore ties instead of bow ties.
Upton carried a bouquet filled with leaves and roses, while Verlander wore a white boutonniere. The celebration featured other flowers and foliage in shades of blush, orange, green, and purple-red. Pink, yellow, and white flowers adorned the aisle, too. The celebration included an ever-popular lounge space, with the fun addition of a foosball table! The views were of rolling hills, with the leaves changing for fall.
Verlander missed his team's championship parade on Friday to jet off to Europe for his nuptials. The sports star and actress got engaged in 2016, and dated for three years before that.
