Plenty of famous singers have had a hand in their fans' proposals, including Adele and Kelly Clarkson. Katy Perry is the latest celebrity to join that list after helping a concert-goer propose to her girlfriend last night. The sweet moment was caught on camera and video for everyone to enjoy.
A clip posted on Twitter shows Katy Perry bringing a couple on stage at her show in Brooklyn, New York. After asking the women what their wishes are and hinting that she'll grant them, she gives the mic to one of the fans, named Katie. The attendee takes the opportunity to do something great. "Well, I don't know if you've all seen Becky," she begins, referencing her partner. She then calls her "pretty" and "perfect," and gets down on one knee. Before you know it, Katie's proposing, and Perry is all about it. The superstar drops to the ground in excitement, and even encourages the stunned girlfriend to respond. "Say yes, Becky, if you want to get married," she's heard exclaiming. Eventually, a nervous and surprised Becky accepts, and the new fiancées embrace.
While the proposal was pretty epic to begin with—it happened at a huge concert in front of a huge celebrity—it also took place on an especially meaningful date. Katie popped the question on National Coming Out Day, which was created to celebrate different identities. Perry has been an active supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, so her involvement with the engagement was fitting.
Following the big moment, Perry, Katie, and Becky took a second to snap a selfie to remember the occasion—not that that should be hard!
