Mandy Moore had plenty to celebrate at Sunday night's Emmy Awards, including her recent engagement to Taylor Goldsmith. Although the This Is Us star walked the carpet solo, Moore's new fiancé clearly wasn't far from her mind. Dressed in a strapless black and white Carolina Herrera gown (wedding dress inspiration, anyone?), the newly-engaged actress opened up about the happy news.
As it turns out, Moore actually told the Dawes musician that she wasn't sure she wanted an engagement ring long before the proposal took place, but was thrilled with the bauble Goldsmith selected. "I'm not an engagement ring kind of girl," she told Entertainment Tonight. "I'm a bashful girl and I didn't think I really wanted one but then—I'm very happy with this. You can see my skin underneath. I like that." When asked about how Goldsmith popped the question, Moore was shy about the private moment. "I have to keep some details to myself!" Moore told Access Hollywood. "It was romantic and very unexpected. He's the best." Despite the fact that the actual engagement was a surprise, the actress revealed that the longtime couple had previously discussed their future together. "I knew it would come eventually because we talked about it. I just didn't know when."
As for the wedding planning process, Moore is taking this whirlwind month, filled with engagement celebrations and an award show, in stride by putting her nuptials on the backburner. Fresh off the success of This Is Us (the drama was nominated for eight Emmys and took home one), Moore explained that she's putting work ahead of wedding brainstorming in an attempt to "stay present.""I'm not even thinking about that," she said, of working out preliminary wedding day details. "I think it was like, gotta get through tonight…One dress at a time."
The actress already knows one thing about the big day, though—she and Goldsmith have a small, intimate celebration in mind. "I feel like the wedding will be sort of quiet," she said. Here's to hoping she doesn't keep the entire planning process to herself—if Moore's real-life wedding is half as romantic as her This Is Us ceremony, we don't want to miss a single detail.
