Emmys 2017: The Best Couples on the Red Carpet
The Emmys may be an opportunity to honor the best of the best in television, but we know what fans really watch the award show for: the red carpet. Whether you're all about the fashion—there was a ton of dress inspiration for brides-to-be this year—or tune in only to catch an update on your favorite couples, this year's Emmy Awards did not disappoint.
The 2017 red carpet saw plenty of Hollywood pairings, and some of our all-time favorite couples turned the awards show into their own personal date night. Sterling K. Brown and Ryan Michelle Bathe of This Is Us glowed for the cameras, and the adoring husband could not stop praising his lovely wife when talking to reporters. On the heels of their 20th wedding anniversary, William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman stepped out in hopes of taking home big prizes—both were nominated for their own Emmys. With their third baby on the way, James Corden and Julian Carey used the show as an excuse for a much-needed night out, and looked great doing it. And Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita wowed in more ways than one. The Modern Family star rocked a green tuxedo and the duo posed for an adorable kiss for the cameras.
But this doesn't even close to covering all the couples' cuteness that walked the red carpet at the 2017 Emmy Awards. Want to see if your favorite couple made our list? Click through to see all of the best couples on the red carpet, then check out our fashion coverage to see which dresses we loved.
Sterling K. Brown and Ryan Michelle Bathe
It's been a busy year for This Is Us star Sterling K. Brown, but judging by the way he and wife Ryan Michelle Bathe looked at each other on the red carpet, he's got a great support system both at home and at work—Bathe is also part of the This Is Us cast, playing Jack and Rebecca's friend Yvette. Brown, wearing Valentino himself, couldn't stop gushing about how beautiful his wife looked, and we have to say we agree.
James Corden and Julia Carey
The Late Late Show
host and his wife were a dynamic (and sleek!) duo in black. Carey, pregnant with the couple's third child, was glowing just a bit more than her comedien husband, though.
William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman
It's been an incredible month for the Shameless actor and American Crime actress—they just celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary and were both nominated for Emmys. We're pretty sure that made this award show their best date night yet.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita
Just look at these two. Dashing and dapper as ever, the Modern Family star (we're loving that jewel green tux jacket) and his lawyer husband posed for a kiss as the cameras flashed.
Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli
Justin Hartley and Chrishell Stause
Since we discovered that the This Is Us star and his fiancée finalized their wedding plans, we've been impatiently waiting for any news of their nuptials. There's no wedding band on Hartley's finger yet, but based on how in love these two looked, it seems like they'll be walking down the aisle any day now.
Viola Davis and Julius Tennon
Viola Davis stunned in an orange Zac Posen gown, but her best accessory was definitely her husband. Davis has always spoken highly about Tennon's love and support over the years, so seeing these two together never gets old.
Emmy Rossum and Sam Esmail
The Shameless actress took the Emmys by storm in a sequined black ball gown, but her last big look was something a bit more white. She and Esmail, the co-creator of Mr. Robot, tied the knot in May 2017 and are clearly still in the honeymoon phase. It's also looking like Rossum swapped out her round-cut engagement ring for the occasion. Check out that massive emerald on her ring finger!
Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade
What's better than seeing a couple holding hands on the red carpet? Fresh off an anniversary getaway in Mykonos, Union and Wade couldn't let go of each other as they made their way down the red carpet.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban
The Big Little Lies actress and her husband just celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary. They're clearly doing something right, since they never have any trouble cuddling up for the cameras.
