Back in April, Sergio Garcia won the Masters—the title was his first for the golf championship. Like all Masters winners, he earned a green jacket, the coveted prize at the sports tournament. While the pro golfer hinted at wearing the trophy to his wedding, no one knew if he would actually pull it off. As it turns out, the athlete did—he donned the award at his reception!
Garcia and fiancée Angela Akins tied the knot with a gorgeous celebration. While the golfer wore a traditional black suit for the ceremony, he later switched into his prize. "Our wedding wouldn't have been complete without a little touch of green at the reception," he wrote on Twitter, captioning a photo of him and his bride dancing. Clearly Akins didn't mind a bit, calling their nuptials a "fairytale wedding." The pair seems to have even used the honor to inspire their wedding hashtag: #whitedressgreenjacket accompanies many of their posts.
The couple shared other images from the event, which was formal and beautifully-designed. Garcia commended his wife for the setup, so Akins must've had a big hand in planning. The ceremony took place on a grassy waterfront, with white petals adorning the aisle. Chandeliers hung in the reception space, and floral arrangements featured white and blush blooms.
Congrats to the golfer on his major win, and to the happy couple for a successful wedding.
