Lionel Messi is getting married to longtime girlfriend Antonella Roccuzzo! The soccer star is tying the knot in his hometown in Argentina, and his wedding is reportedly taking place today at 7 p.m. local time.
The celebration will be held at the City Center in Rosario, reports Goal, which is right around where the superstar and his fiancée met and grew up. Many fans, as well as those close to Messi, are proud of the athlete's venue choice, especially as the famous player could've married anywhere he chose. "Being who he is, he could have been married in the best place in the world, and must have had many offers," Enrique Domínguez, Messi's childhood coach, told CNN. "He must have had offers so that his wedding, the best moment of his life, could take place where others wanted—and yet he chose Rosario," he shares.
The event guest list includes many of Messi's teammates, and there's said to be a large security staff to ensure the wedding's not crashed. To appease fans, big digital screens will be placed nearby the ceremony to watch from.
Messi and Roccuzzo already share two children, and their love story is certainly one for the books. According to Goal, the pair met when Messi was five, and began dating back in 2008. Well wishes to the childhood sweethearts—we're sure their hometown wedding will be full of family, friends, and love.
