Despite their previous on-again of-again status, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's relationship is decidedly on right now. After ending their engagement in 2013, Cyrus and Hemsworth rekindled their romance in January of 2016, and she's been spotted wearing her Neil Lane engagement ring ever since. Although the two live together on a Malibu ranch, singer and her actor beau typically keep their relationship quiet. Until now, that is. On May 11, Cyrus will debut a new song titled "Malibu," the first single off her upcoming able, Billboard reports. Spoiler alert: It's all about her relationship with Hemsworth.
"I never would've believed you if three years ago you told me I'd be here writing this song," she told the magazine. "[People] are going to talk about me if I come out of a restaurant with Liam. So why not put the power back in my relationship and say, 'This is how I feel'?" She didn't spill what the song says, but Billboard's reporter referred to it as "sentimental," a very different tone than that of the singer's latest hits. We're holding out hope that this will be the summer's new first dance song!
While things are clearly going well for this pair now, Cyrus is open about the fact that she and Hemsworth needed time apart in 2013. When asked about a statement she made after they broke up ("I'm so immersed in work, I can't even think about it," Cyrus said at the time), the singer talked about needing to grow and change. "I needed to change so much," Cyrus said. "And changing with someone else not changing like that is too hard. Suddenly you're like, 'I don't recognize you anymore.' We had to refall for each other."
Falling back in love with each other is clearly what this couple did, and the two appear to be happier than ever. Cyrus didn't discuss wedding plans, but rumor has it she and Hemsworth are considering a summer wedding. Life & Style recently reported that the couple wanted a low-key celebration rooted in spirituality. "Miley has a real hippie side and wants to embrace that rather than spending millions," a source said. "She wants to focus on the spiritual side of marriage and is very interested in Hinduism, so she is looking at locations in Nepal, where Hinduism is a way of life."
Another possible wedding destination? Hemsworth's native Australia. "She loves the laid-back lifestyle there," the source said. "She feels right at home." Where ever these two decide to wed, we're sure it will be a totally personalized affair—with lots of music, of course.
