Hollywood couple Chris Chalk and Kimberley Dalton Mitchell were married this weekend in a stunning celebration in North Carolina. The Gotham star and his now wife, who got engaged last September, first met through Alano Miller and DeWanda Wise (who also happened to serve as the best man and maid of honor at the wedding). The pair hit it off after first introduction and made their relationship official during a ceremony in Chalk's hometown of Asheville, North Carolina, on Saturday, April 22, 2017.
Chalk wore a modern twist on the old-school look, choosing black pants, a white suit jacket, a white button-down, and a white bow tie. Mitchell looked beautiful as she walked down the aisle in a lace wedding dress with floral details. To finish her bridal look, she added an elegant hair accessory and long veil. Chalk and Mitchell shared their special day with 135 of their closest family members and friends, starting the celebration off with a ceremony at the North Carolina Arboretum, then headed to the Grand Bohemian Hotel for the reception. A unique touch? The Mr. and Mrs. decided to transport their guests to the venue via yellow school buses.
"I think there's something about a school bus that immediately humbles you. It's fun," Chalk told Us Weekly. Plus, they knew it would be in favor of their guests. "We didn't want people driving up the mountain after [drinking Theopholis Vineyards champagne at the ceremony]," added Mitchell. Clearly, the couple was going for a fun vibe. They also had a bit of a dress code, but not exactly a traditional one that you'd expect. "Our actual instruction was, 'Dress how you would dress if you knew you were going to make out with somebody that night,'" Chalk said. But he also added that he and his Mrs. "had to dial it back for some people."
They also made sure the music was up to par for their wedding. "We told our DJ, 'Pretend you're DJing for the club,'" said Mitchell. "That's what we want. Just trying to throw the ultimate dance party." Not to mention, their menu included a variety of delicious southern dishes including a waffle and bacon bar (yum) and shrimp and grits. It sounds like the perfect Saturday reception to celebrate the happy couple, and there's no doubt the guests enjoyed the good time. We're sure this good energy will carry on throughout their marriage, and we couldn't be happier for the new Mr. and Mrs. Chalk!
