If you're going to give your wedding a theme, you might as well do it big. Case in point: This Games of Thrones wedding shoot, which captured the essence of the hit show from beginning to end. Everything from the venue—Smithmore Castle in Spruce Pine, North Carolina—to the outfits and invitations could have come straight out of GOT and we're officially obsessed.
Photographer Katie Lee of Katherine Elena Photography worked with Something Perfect Events and Events by Elizabeth Ashley to dream up the whimsical inspiration shoot. And pulling it off required some serious thought, excellent style, and a few lookalike models. Austen Taylor Mauney stood in as Daenerys Targaryen while Courtney Edelman took the place of Sansa Stark, and a castle venue in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains helped make the fantasy feel a little more real.
The shoot, which was originally featured on Huffington Post Weddings, was perfectly executed from start to finish, with not a single detail overlooked. The team even brought in a wolf named river from Full Moon Farm Wolfdog Sanctuary, a non-profit organized that works with rescued wolfdogs. Now that's what we call attention to detail.
Some of our favorite elements of the day were the wedding cake, which featured a tier covered in fondant scales, and the stunning stationery suite, which boasted celestial details and a custom wax seal. "I knew that it would be a tough style to recreate while still managing to keep it elegant enough for a wedding," Katie Lee told Time. But she clearly pulled it off with flying colors, creating a look that was somehow both elevated and fun, combining elegant style with the element of fantasy we all love about George R.R. Martin's Seven Kingdoms.
