She may have received the final rose on this season of The Bachelor, but it seems that Vanessa Grimaldi hasn't quite convinced viewers that she was the right choice for Nick Viall. When The Bachelor star sat down with Ellen DeGeneres yesterday, the talk show host mentioned that fans of the series have voiced concerns that the pair are "awkward" together and seemed uncomfortable on the "After the Final Rose" special.
Although Nick was the show's guest, it was Vanessa, who was sitting in the audience, that decided to defend their relationship when DeGeneres said, "I heard some people thought it was awkward, that y'all were awkward together…Did y'all think it was awkward?" Vanessa responded, "I didn't think so. I think we both went in it wanting to be honest and open about couples… sometimes things can get tough. We're very committed to each other. We're very committed to each other. We love each other and that's what we're focusing on."
The happy couple have been putting their relationship on display all week, including a series of Instagram posts from both Nick and Vanessa. In each image, the two are all smiles.
When he's not defending his relationship with Vanessa, Nick is busy working on his dance moves with Peta Murgatroyd on Dancing with the Stars. "The first time you learn all these moves, everything is just very complicated," he says. "Most of the positions Peta asks me to do are very painful physically." At least he'll have some skills to share with Vanessa when the time comes to plan their first dance.
While the show's fans are still hyper-focused on Nick and Vanessa, future Bachelorette Rachel Linsday is busy filming her upcoming season. Us Weekly reports that Rachel and 10 contestants played basketball with NBA Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar during a group date. It looks like there will be plenty of action to look forward to!
