Add this to your list of dream engagement locations: an Adele concert! While performing at Melbourne, Australia's, Etihad Stadium last night, the "Hello" singer invited two audience members on stage when one got down on one knee with 77,300 strangers cheering them on. Talk about romantic!
Adele has been known to hide signed letters under seats at concerts, but when the singer realized she had forgotten those surprises for a few lucky fans, she decided to invite two members of the crowd on stage instead. According to E!, the singer chose a man named Chris, who she had seen crying during her performance of "Hello," and his partner Wade. Once the two joined her, Wade took advantage of the very unique opportunity and surprised Chris, Adele, and the crowd by dropping to one knee to propose.
"I had no idea that was going to happen," Adele told fans, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. "So that was unplanned, I had no idea there, Chris. I'm sorry." Even better? The singer asked Chris to repeat his answer for the whole arena to hear, and then hugged the newly-engaged couple. And once she spotted the engagement ring, she said, "Oh, that is sharp!"
While it was certainly an emotional moment, it wasn't the first time fans have gotten engaged during an Adele performance. Last year, at least three different couples got engaged while Adele was on stage, including one pair who got engaged while she sang "Make You Feel My Love" in London. "Come up here you two," she called out in the middle of the song. "Are they coming? Did you just get engaged? Oh god! I thought there was a fight at first."
