This Cheerful Pastel Palette Is Perfect for a Spring Wedding

Cool clear details (think: Lucite and vellum) balance out these super-sweet colors.

On a Clear Day

The palest hues can be surprisingly, cheerfully modern when viewed through the right lens. To amp up the cool factor of blush, yellow, and blue, we paired this palette of pastels with modern translucent accents, like Lucite, acrylic, and vellum. The final result is wedding décor that's just a lighter shade of chic. Plus, combining these light shades and more contemporary clear details would be perfect to your pre-wedding parties, too. Consider it for your bridal shower and bachelorette party for a feminine look that's still totally of the moment.

Pretty in Pink

Girly goes grown-up in this table setting: Place a low, sculptural floral centerpiece inside a clear box for a striking still life. Translucent dishes, glassware, and chairs offer barely-there beauty, and a cheerful mix of macarons and meringues in tiny acrylic boxes are to-go ready. Toss a few pink-dyed sheepskin throws over the chairs, and guests can cozy up while looking totally glam.

To the Letter

Cool acrylic adds extra dimension to stationery and day-of paper goods. Invitations are sandwiched between two sheets of plexiglass, making them feel like mini works of art; leather envelope pouches (which also hold letterpressed RSVP cards and envelopes) give the whole package a luxurious feeling. We also laser-etched guests' names into acrylic rectangles and set them over pale-blue cards for an elegantly modern place card-menu combination.

On Display

(Left) A mixed bouquet of clematis leaves, Japanese carnations, garden roses, tree peonies, ranunculus, and anemones is
a riot of happy hues. A satin ribbon extends the color story, and clear vinyl (cut in strips from a wide sheet) around the stems helps to provide structure and give you a handle on the situation.

(Right) A classic tiered wedding cake coated in buttercream and pale sanding sugars—with the barest hints of blue, green, and yellow—shimmers with subtle glamour. But it's the bed of rock candy on which the confection rests that elevates this dessert to a crystalline wonder. Enclose the whole thing in an acrylic case atop a pedestal, where it can be admired before cake-cutting time.

The Details: (Left) French double-faced satin
ribbon, 2", in Pastel Peach, $5 per yd., Clear vinyl, 20 gauge, $9 per yd., (Right) Sanding sugars, $2.25
for 4 oz., Rock candy on strings, $38.50 for 5 lb., "Tate" white vitrine case (similar
to shown), for rental, Cake by Jason Schreiber.
